I am from a family of home cooks who love to feed people. Both my mother and grandmother would never let anyone go hungry.
And nor do I!
I stopped eating meat at the age of 14 after a school discussion on blood sports and never looked back.
After school, in the family tradition of loving food and loving feeding people, I gained fantastic experience working for eight years at an independent country (foodie) pub in the beautiful Kent countryside.
Always struggling to find tasty meat free meals, I continued to experiment at home where my mother dubbed me the veggie Heston Blumenthal. And from this, in 2011 The Fat Carrot was born.
(I prefer to see Heston as the carnivore Carrot…)
In 2015 I met my husband, a long term vegetarian turned vegan, and his influence pushed the vegan side of the business into new territories. In 2017 we held our first vegan fair and have plans to continue to grow our vegan options.
We believe that a vegan or vegetarian diet is healthy, sustainable and responsible.
Together with a commitment to local produce, food quality and fairtrade we hope to be well mannered and principled citizens of the earth, sharing her bounty with you.
